What is TEFAQ Prep
TEFAQ Preparation Course
The TEFAQ Preparation program readies professionals for the TEFAQ (Test d’évaluation du français adapté au Québec) in 20 hours over 10 weeks, one-on-one and fully online. ELAM works with Quebec employers whose employees need the test for immigration or professional certification, and with the employees themselves. The goal is not practice. It is a pass.
Built for Employers Who Need Their People to Pass
When an employee’s work permit, permanent residency or professional licence depends on a French test, the exam becomes a business problem. ELAM coordinates the scheduling, tracks progress through mock evaluations and reports exam readiness back to HR. Employees at a beginner level start with LAD Intense to build the language first, then move into TEFAQ Prep. You get one provider and one plan from first assessment to exam day.
What the Program Covers
The TEFAQ Prep focuses on the two sections most immigration streams require: oral expression and listening comprehension. Sessions combine structured instruction with practice drills, mock exam questions and real-time feedback from certified French instructors who know the test’s format, timing and traps. Learners build the reflexes and vocabulary to perform under exam conditions, not just in class.

Frequently Asked Questions
01. What is the TEFAQ and why does it matter?
The TEFAQ (Test d'Évaluation du Français pour l'Accès au Québec) is an officially recognized French language evaluation that assesses oral expression and listening comprehension. It is required for professionals and newcomers seeking immigration eligibility, professional certification, or access to certain roles in Quebec's bilingual workforce.
02. What does the TEFAQ Preparation program cover?
The program focuses exclusively on the two components evaluated in the TEFAQ, oral expression and listening comprehension. Through structured instruction, targeted practice exercises, and proven exam strategies, learners develop the specific skills the test demands. Every session is designed to build both language competency and test-taking confidence, so learners are prepared for the format, the timing, and the pressure of exam day.
03. How long is the program and how are sessions structured?
The TEFAQ Preparation program runs over 10 weeks with two one-hour virtual sessions per week, totalling 20 hours of expert-led instruction. Sessions are delivered on Microsoft Teams by certified French-speaking instructors who know the TEFAQ inside and out, its format, its expectations, and the most effective strategies for success.
04. What level of French is required to enroll?
05. How do we know if an employee is ready to take the TEFAQ after completing the program?
Throughout the 10-week program, your trainer conducts regular practice evaluations that mirror the format and difficulty of the actual TEFAQ. By the end of the program, learners receive a progress report and a trainer recommendation on exam readiness. ELAM's goal is not just to prepare your employees for the test , it's to make sure they pass it.
06. What is the difference between the TEFAQ and TEF Canada?
The TEFAQ serves Quebec immigration purposes and focuses on oral components. TEF Canada serves federal immigration and citizenship applications and can include written components. Which one you need depends on your immigration stream, so confirm with your immigration advisor before booking a test date.
