VBOB
Virtual Best of Both Worlds
What is VBOB ?
Many language learning programs force you to choose between the energy of a group setting and the depth of one-on-one instruction. VBOB (Virtual Best of Both Worlds) offers both. This award-winning program combines a weekly 90-minute group session with a 30-minute private lesson as part of an interactive learning experience.
Learners develop conversational fluency, improve their listening skills, and expand their professional vocabulary through interaction with peers and real-life scenarios within the group. During the private session, their instructor focuses on individual gaps, goals, and progress. The two formats complement each other—and the results speak for themselves.

Frequently Asked Questions
01. How does the VBOB program differ from other group language programs?
Most group programs are limited to the group session. VBOB goes a step further. Each week, learners participate in a 90-minute group session AND a 30-minute one-on-one lesson with their instructor. The group session helps build confidence, fluency, and peer interaction, while the one-on-one lesson focuses on each learner’s individual goals and areas for improvement.
02. How many participants are there typically in a VBOB group session?
VBOB groups are intentionally kept small (3 to 6 participants) to maximize participation and interaction. This allows each learner to have ample time to speak, receive concrete feedback, and engage in the kind of dynamic discussions that make group learning truly effective.
03. How do individual sessions complement the group component?
It is during the one-on-one session that personalization truly comes into its own. While the group session sets the tone and fosters a sense of community, the 30-minute one-on-one session allows each learner to spend dedicated time with their instructor to work on specific challenges, reinforce concepts covered in the group, and make progress toward their personal language goals. These two formats are designed to complement each other.
04. Is the VBOB program suitable for groups of varying skill levels?
Our VBOB program yields the best results when learners have similar skill levels; that is why ELAM uses diagnostic assessments to place participants in appropriate groups before the program begins. This ensures that each session is challenging and relevant for all participants, not just the strongest or weakest ones.
05. Why is VBOB award winning?
In 2004, at Aventis, the VBOB was recognized for its innovative approach of combining group instruction and one-on-one coaching in a fully virtual environmenta model that ELAM pioneered long before hybrid learning became the norm.
